Police Visor Lights: Additional Visibility and Illumination When It's Needed Most
Both in the movies and in real life, plain clothes police officers are often mistaken for undercover officers; the two terms are often used interchangeably. In fact, the two are quite different; while both plain clothes officers and undercover officers typically wear street clothes and drive unmarked vehicles, undercover officers must usually assume a false identity and conceal their association with the police department entirely. Undercover officers usually drive cars or trucks that cannot be easily traced back to the police department and that do not incorporate any identifying police lights. Plain clothes officers, by way of contrast, typically are assigned to work on traffic details and, as a result, often require police visor lights in order to effectively do their jobs.
Police visor lights are specifically designed to provide minimal outside evidence of their existence until they are put to use. This allows the unmarked police cars to go unnoticed until a traffic violation is observed; at that time, the police officer can turn on the police visor lights and engage in pursuit and apprehension of the suspected violator. In this way, police visor lights can provide a larger measure of stealth for officers on traffic duty while ensuring that public safety issues are considered and that the vehicle can be readily identified as an official police vehicle when necessary.
LED police visor lights are becoming more and more popular due to the reduced heat produced by these streamlined emergency lights. Because police visor lights are installed inside the vehicle, the reduced heat output makes a considerable difference in the comfort level experienced by the police officer driving the car or truck. Additionally, LED police visor lights are energy-efficient, consuming much less power than comparable halogen or incandescent police visor lights. This allows police departments to go green and practice environmental responsibility while still maintaining visibility with high-intensity police visor lights.
Police visor lights are also a solution for officers who must occasionally use their own vehicles in the course of their duties. Because they can be easily installed and removed and are often powered through the car’s existing power point or lighter socket, police visor lights are exceptionally convenient and can be replaced on the vehicle’s visor in moments if the police officer witnesses a crime or must move through traffic quickly to answer a call. For most police departments, police visor lights are a convenient and versatile way to ensure that even unmarked cars can be readily identified as police vehicles when the occasion demands it. LED police visor lights offer even more convenience and ensure the safety not only of plain clothes police officers, but of the general public as well.
