LED Emergency Lighting is Technology of Choice For Emergency Vehicles
Emergency vehicle lighting is a diverse field consisting of various lighting technologies. These include the use of incandescent & halogen lights, strobe lights and now, LED lights.
Nearly all manufacturers of emergency vehicle lighting offer a minimum of one of these technologies and frequently a combination of them.
LED lighting is environmentally friendly. This is because they are smaller than other lighting systems and do not massively change th co-efficient of drag for the vehicle. In turn this saves fuel, which not only reduces climate change pollution but operating costs as well. It is true that the change over to LED in only a few vehicles would have insignificant environmental benefit, there 100s of thousands emergency vehicles being equipped with LED emergency lighting, thus making the savings real.
LED technology is becoming a force majeuere in emergency lighting for first responder vehicles. The reasons for the ever-increasing use of LED emergency lights are:
- longer lifespan - less expense for bulb changes
- uses less power - less taxing to vehicle's electric system
- less expensive - makes acquisition easier
When first responders roll out they immediately place themselves in harm's way. Today's car are manufactured to reduce or eliminate ambient noise . With radios generally blaring in many cars, drivers may be unresponsive to police, fire or medical first responders need for traffic to make way for them quickly.
Since the beginning of automobile use there was and is a need to use vehicles for emergencies. As car and vehicle technology grew so did emergency vehicle lighting technology. From a simple "cherry" or flashing red beacon and a searchlight we now have light bars that are capable of running the entire width of a fire truck or large wrecker.
Manufacturing of emergency lighting for vehicles is becoming an intensely competitive industry that is filled with different available technologies that include halogen lights, strobe lights incandescent lights and the newest technology LED emergency lights.
When first responders roll out they immediately place themselves in harm's way. Today's car are manufactured to reduce or eliminate ambient noise . With radios also generally blaring in many cars, drivers may be unresponsive to police, fire or medical first responders need for traffic to make way for them quickly. Vehicle emergency lighting used with a siren if needed, makes being in traffic much safer as the emergency vehicle is far more visible.
Due to the technology used in LEDs emergency lighting has grown smaller and more clear and bright.
LEDs have completely revolutionized the emergency vehicle warning equipment industry as well as our emergency services by making emergency vehicles brighter, more visible, more aerodynamic , more fuel-efficient and more accessible due to lower price.
