Multipurpose Warning Lights

In most cases, warning lights serve a dual purpose on emergency vehicles. They alert members of the public to hazards as well as providing illumination and protection for the vehicle itself. Warning lights are one of the most critically important alert systems for first responders and emergency workers; as a result, a wide variety of these lights are currently manufactured for use by ambulance personnel, police officers, firefighters and other first responders. Some warning lights are intended for permanent installation, while others are portable and removable. Handheld warning light systems are also available, including traffic advisors for directing motorists around a hazard, obstruction, or other incident on the roadways.

warning lightsWarning lights are especially important at night when visibility is naturally at its lowest point. On dark country roads or at dangerous intersections, warning lights can protect the public against unseen hazards and provide a visual cue that obstructions or emergency equipment is positioned ahead. Road flares are one of the most common and primitive forms of warning lights; today, travelers have access to much more advanced and reliable lighting solutions including LED lightbars, portable flashers and, in some cases, strobe lights in a variety of colors. These warning lights can provide additional security for families and those who must travel long distances on a consistent basis.

warning lightsFor first responders including police, ambulance services workers, and firefighters, the selection of warning lights is wider and more extensive; this is because certain types of warning lights are typically reserved for official public safety vehicles. For instance, the blue and red lightbars and specialized strobe lighting of the typical police car is not usually available for purchase by members of the general public in order to ensure the safety of officers as well as private individuals. Amber lightbars are generally used by tow trucks and wrecking services to alert the public to their presence, and directional arrow warning lights may be utilized by road construction crews to guide traffic around work zones and hazardous areas. Extreme Tactical Dynamics carries a wide range of warning lights suitable for use by both public agencies and private individuals.
