Types of Police Lights
We think of Police and immediately, images of sirens and blinking lights come to mind. It is what distinguishes Police vehicles and emergency vehicles. These lights are necessary as warning lights. Police lights and other emergency vehicle lights warn citizens of Police presence and give them an idea of how to respond to them by either stopping, moving to the side, pulling over, or getting out of the way with time to let officers and emergency personnel pass through to where they are needed. This is why Police lights are so important and necessary to maintain certain type of order and understanding in society.
With the introduction of LED technology, Police lights changed to use LED lights, which are more powerful, intense, and durable. They are better for police and emergency use than the older type lights, which were made with halogen bulbs, fluorescent or incandescent bulbs. These lights also consume less power. Not only do these lights serve the purpose of warning, but they also have the intensity and brightness to illuminate the area where police is needed, for example an accident or crime scene. Police lights also give civilians a sense of safety when they see them, as they know that a law enforcement officer is nearby. Safety and sense of security is one benefit to society. On the other hand, criminals and thieves dread Police lights because it translates into an obstacle for them to commit the burglary or crime. It is certainly not "Holiday lights" for criminals and robbers, and it is not Santa who is coming to town - the Law is.
There are different types of Police lights - Light bars, light electronic sirens, LED dash lights, LED deck lights and visor lights, grille and/or surface mount lights, bumper LED lights, traffic advisor lights, Oktag sticks, hideaway strobe and LED lights, warning lights, beacons, auxiliary lights/scene lights, special police flashlights, and more.
Most people expect their police force to operate with these lights and that the vehicles show the latest technology - it becomes a matter of thrust to the public, as they see that their town's law enforcement officers are well equipped and ready for action when needed - for the common citizen, it translates into peace of mind.
These lights have evolved with time. In the beginning, police cars used to have only one light on top, a single bulb and mirrors rotating, later the addition of strobe lights made a great statement in Police lighting, and finally LED lights came to be the best so far. As light technology continues to change, so will the lights that emergency response personnel and police officers will use in the future. These lights represent order, authority, security, safety, response, help, peace of mind, and much more. They are also functional, practical, and are a great help for police officers. From warning, to illuminating, to order, to intimidating criminals, these lights have their presence in the community.
