Why Police Departments are switching to LED Police Lights

Police Departments across the nation our in the process of switching to a new bulb technology called LED Police Lights instead of old technology such as halogen, xenon and strobe. Why are Departments doing this?

LED QuadThe reason Police Departments are switching to the new LED Police light bulb technology is fairly simple. Led’s simply last a lot longer, Use a lot less power and cost a whole lot less money. Let’s examine each of these.

LED’s simply last longer. For years Police Departments were subjected to xenon and strobe bulbs that at best would give them about a years worth of use. Compared to an LED Police Light bulb that has the ability to burn anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 hours. Constant on you can get anywhere from 5 1/2 years to 11 years turned on from an LED.

Linear LED Use a Lot less power.  For a long time police cars have been unnoticeable because the amount of Emergency Vehicle Lighting simply was not bright enough or you could not put very many xenon, halogen or strobes on the vehicle because it could not handle the power requirements and would simply kill the battery.   Today we have new LED technology that is lighting the way to brighter and more efficient emergency vehicles.  They use a lot less power for example milliamps versus full amps of power.  This allows for Departments and Agencies to use many more lights at a fraction of the old technology.

Cost a whole lot less money. In terms of usable service an LED Police Light bulb will over the course of its life cost anywhere from one half to one fifth the price of old xenon, halogen and strobe bulb technology
