Light Output & Visibility
Four heads extend the warning display across an 18-inch bar, while Linear lenses spread their light across a 120-degree beam. The L6-4 adds two heads and 8.5 inches of housing length over the L6-2. Choose this size when that longer row fits your mounting area and you want the broader optical spread of Linear lenses. Housing length and beam angle are separate considerations.
Check all four heads from directly ahead and from angled approaches. Rear-window trim, headrests or equipment can interrupt the view even when there is enough room for the housing. With split colors, make sure neither group of heads is hidden. Tint and glass angle affect visible output, so inspect the intended position in daylight and darkness. ETD recommends the optional flashback guard for installations behind glass.
An anodized aluminum housing and scratch- and shatter-resistant polycarbonate lenses protect the assembly. Individual LED modules are replaceable, with spare parts available from ETD. A damaged head can be serviced without automatically replacing the entire light bar.
Color Options
The L6-4 offers 21 fixed-color arrangements: five solid, eight split and eight alternating. Solid bars use one color across all four heads. Split bars group two heads of each color together; alternating bars place the two colors in turn across the housing. Each head contains six LEDs of its assigned color.
| Arrangement | Available colors | Four-head arrangement |
|---|---|---|
| Solid (5) | White, Red, Blue, Amber, Green | A/A/A/A |
| Split (8) | Red/White, Blue/White, Red/Blue, Amber/White, Green/Amber, Red/Amber, Blue/Amber, Green/White | A/A/B/B |
| Alternating (8) | Same eight color pairs listed above | A/B/A/B |
For red/blue, split means Red/Red/Blue/Blue and alternating means Red/Blue/Red/Blue. Both contain two heads of each color; the difference is where those heads sit. These layouts describe fixed color placement, not color-changing LEDs or a particular flash pattern. Confirm orientation with ETD if one color must occupy a specific side, and select colors authorized for your vehicle and role.
Recommended Uses & Limitations
The L6-4 is a mid-size option for first responders, fleet managers and POV owners fitting warning lights to patrol, fire and rescue, tow, utility, construction or security vehicles. Its 18-inch length can suit a rear deck, window or suitable push-bumper position when a two-head bar is smaller than you want and a 27-inch six-head bar takes too much space.
Left-to-right and right-to-left directional patterns are also available. For warning from other approaches, position additional lights where their beams remain visible. Current Lynx L6 and T6 lights can synchronize through dedicated sync wires. Exterior installations require the optional circuit-board waterproofing upgrade.

Optional Accessories Sold Separately
The optional cigarette-lighter control plug includes the Dual Memory switch, pattern-change button and a fuse. An inline switch, suction cups, flashback guard, headliner brackets for visor mounting and an additional 10 feet of wire are available separately. The extra wire extends the supplied cable; it does not replace it. Suction cups and the flashback guard can be used together.
Circuit-board waterproofing is an optional upgrade for exterior mounting. The light heads and housing already have IP67 protection; the upgrade adds IP67 protection to the circuit board. Waterproofing does not restrict your color or mounting choice. For hardwiring, purchase the required 5 A fuse and suitable fuse holder separately.
Fitment, Install, Wiring, Mounting Locations & Options
Dash, Windshield and Rear-Deck Mounting
Measure for an 18 × 2 × 1.5-inch bare housing, then allow room for brackets, accessories and the cable route. The L6-4 weighs 2.8 lb. Check the full 18-inch mounting area for headrests, a center brake light and other equipment that could hide a head or prevent secure attachment.
The supplied L brackets suit rear-deck mounting on an appropriate surface. Optional suction cups support removable mounting against suitable front, rear or side glass, and they work with the optional flashback guard. Confirm secure attachment and visibility from outside before use. Keep the driver's view clear and avoid placing the bar where it blocks a vehicle light.
Exterior and Other Mounting Options
For a suitable push bumper, headache rack or other exterior mounting location, use the included L brackets and select circuit-board waterproofing. Check that vehicle parts do not obstruct the four heads or their wider beam. Use vehicle attachment hardware appropriate to the mounting surface; the four supplied screws attach the brackets to the light. Protect connections and route wiring away from sharp edges and moving parts.
Optional headliner brackets allow visor or headliner mounting where the complete 18-inch assembly fits. These brackets are sold separately. A dash, B-pillar or cage position also depends on available space and secure attachment points. Keep the light and wiring clear of airbags, controls and the driver's sightline.
Power and Controls
Hardwire the L6-4 to a fused 12V DC supply, or add the optional cigarette-lighter plug for plug-in operation. Use a 5 A fuse for one L6-4. The optional plug includes a fuse; hardwired installations require separately purchased fuse protection. An inline switch is also available separately.
The optional control plug lets you power either saved memory setting and change patterns with its pattern-change button. Both saved selections remain after unplugging. To coordinate multiple lights, use the dedicated sync connection with current Lynx T6 or L6 models; older T4 units are not compatible.

Compare Models
The L6-4 is the 18-inch, four-head model in the Linear lineup. Compare mounting length and head count below; every model uses 120-degree Linear lenses.
| Model | Heads / LEDs | Length | Key function / difference | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lynx L6-1 | 1 / 6 | 4.75 in | Single-head compact warning light | Very tight mounting positions |
| Lynx L6-2 | 2 / 12 | 9.5 in | Compact two-head warning light | Dash, deck and paired installations |
| Lynx L6-4 | 4 / 24 | 18 in | Four-head warning; left/right patterns | Rear decks and push bumpers with room for an 18-inch bar |
| Lynx L6-6 | 6 / 36 | 27 in | Wider housing; left/right/center-out patterns | Wider rear-window applications |
| Lynx L6-8 | 8 / 48 | 35 5/8 in | Longest housing in this lineup; left/right/center-out patterns | Broad rear-window coverage where the bar fits |
The L6-4 doubles the L6-2's head count from two to four and increases housing length from 9.5 to 18 inches. It also adds alternating color layouts alongside solid and split choices. Choose the smaller model when space is tight; choose the 27-inch L6-6 or 35 5/8-inch L6-8 when you have room for a longer row of warning heads.
The matching T6-4 has the same dimensions, LED count, current draw, colors, functions and accessories. Its 40-degree TIR lenses replace the L6-4's 120-degree Linear lenses. Choose between them by the optical spread your mounting position needs. The other matched pairs are L6-1/T6-1, L6-2/T6-2, L6-6/T6-6 and L6-8/T6-8.
Frequently Asked Questions
When should I choose the L6-4 over the L6-2?
Choose the L6-4 when you have room for an 18-inch bar and want four heads with 24 LEDs. The L6-2 is 9.5 inches long with two heads and 12 LEDs. The L6-4 also offers alternating color arrangements and left/right directional patterns. Both use 120-degree Linear lenses and Dual Memory.
Is the standard L6-4 waterproof?
The light heads and housing have IP67 protection as standard. For exterior use, select the optional circuit-board waterproofing upgrade. This applies to push-bumper, headache-rack and other exterior installations.
What is the difference between the L6-4 and T6-4?
The L6-4 uses 120-degree Linear lenses for a wider beam. The T6-4 uses focused 40-degree TIR lenses. All other specifications match, so changing lens type does not change the space, power or accessories required.
How do split and alternating colors differ?
Split colors use A/A/B/B, placing two heads of each color together. Alternating colors use A/B/A/B. For red/blue, that is Red/Red/Blue/Blue versus Red/Blue/Red/Blue. Each head stays its assigned color when you change patterns.
Can the optional plug operate both memory settings?
Yes. The optional cigarette-lighter plug has a Dual Memory switch that lets you power either saved setting, plus a pattern-change button. It also includes a fuse.
Can the L6-4 synchronize with TIR lights?
Yes. Current Lynx L6 and T6 lights can synchronize through the dedicated sync wire, so the different lens types do not prevent synchronization. Older T4-series lights are not compatible.
How much power does it draw, and will it drain my battery?
At 12V, the L6-4 draws 0.75 A while flashing and 3.5 A on steady-on. Use these current figures when planning the electrical load. Leaving the light running with the engine off can discharge the battery; runtime depends on the battery and other equipment using power.
Does it need an external flasher?
No. The flasher is built into the light. Hardwiring requires a fused power connection and suitable controls; the optional inline switch and cigarette-lighter control plug are sold separately.
Are the brackets included in the dimensions?
No. The 18 × 2 × 1.5-inch dimensions are for the bare housing. Allow additional room for brackets, accessories and cable routing. Product weight is 2.8 lb.
Can I replace one LED module?
Yes. The L6-4's individual LED modules are replaceable, and spare parts are available from ETD. Contact us with your model and the part you need.
