Overview

The first question people ask about a two-head warning light is whether two heads is enough. The Lynx T6-2 uses twelve Generation V 3-watt LEDs behind TIR optics, concentrating output into a controlled 40-degree forward cone instead of allowing light to spill sideways. That focused beam helps the signal remain visible in direct sun, where small warning lights can otherwise wash out. Many buyers install them in pairs, giving a rear deck two synchronized warning points without requiring a full-length bar.

Its compact housing mounts on a dash, windshield, rear deck, B-pillar, cage, push bumper or headache rack. Thirty-six selectable flash patterns are built in, while Dual Memory stores two pattern selections independently and retains them after the light is disconnected from power. The T6-2 operates from a 12V system and includes a self-contained flasher.

The box includes the light, two L brackets with mounting fasteners and a 10-foot power cord.

Description & Features

Six LEDs Per Head, Not Four

Each head carries six Generation V 3-watt LEDs, compared with four per head on the previous generation. That raises output without increasing the housing length, an important advantage when the mounting position cannot accommodate a longer warning light.

What TIR Optics Actually Do

A TIR lens captures light close to the diode and directs it forward instead of allowing much of the output to scatter sideways. The resulting beam provides useful visibility from an angled approach while keeping enough intensity aimed down the road to maintain a recognizable warning signal at distance.

36 Patterns and Dual Memory

The T6-2 provides 36 selectable flash patterns, including wig-wag and strobe sequences. Dual Memory lets the operator save two preferred patterns independently. Because the memory is non-volatile, those selections remain stored even after the light has been completely disconnected from vehicle power.

A steady-on park mode is also available for stationary use.

Synchronize Multiple Units

A dedicated sync wire lets two T6-2 lights run their flash sequences together instead of gradually drifting out of phase. This is particularly useful when installing one unit on each side of a rear deck or using multiple Lynx T series warning lights on the same vehicle.

Electrical Load You Can Plan Around

Power consumption differs substantially between flashing and steady operation, which is why both figures are published separately in the specification table.

The flasher is self-contained, so there is no separate control module to purchase or find room for. Reverse-polarity and overvoltage protection are also built in to help protect the electronics against common wiring mistakes and voltage spikes.

IP67 Housing and Replaceable Modules

The Lynx T6-2 meets or exceeds SAE J595 Class 1, giving fleet, municipal and emergency-vehicle buyers a clear performance benchmark for warning-light output.

The IP67-rated housing protects against dust ingress and temporary water immersion, making the T6-2 suitable for both interior and properly installed exterior positions.

Individual LED modules are replaceable and spare parts are orderable. Damage to a single serviceable component therefore does not automatically require replacement of the entire warning light.

Hardwired or Plug-In Operation

Hardwiring is the standard installation path. The supplied cable provides the run to a fused 12V power source, while an inline switch and toggle wire provide operational and pattern control.

For buyers who need to move the light between vehicles, an optional cigarette-lighter plug adds ON/OFF and pattern controls at the plug head without requiring a permanent electrical installation.

Mounting & Installation

Two L brackets and the required bracket fasteners ship with the T6-2. The brackets attach to the ends of the housing and support permanent installation on positions such as a rear deck, B-pillar, cage, push bumper or headache rack.

For windshield or rear-window use, optional suction cups allow the light to mount against glass without drilling and make removal or transfer between vehicles easier. Clean and dry the glass before installing the cups.

The bare housing measures 9.5 inches long, 2 inches deep and 1.5 inches high. These measurements do not include the L brackets. A bracket-mounted installation will stand taller, so clearance should be checked against the completed mounting assembly rather than the bare housing dimensions.

On painted exterior surfaces, drill and seal mounting points as you would with other vehicle accessories. The 10-foot cord is designed to reach common windshield and rear-deck mounting positions from a dash or console power source.

A flashback guard is available separately for windshield installations where reflected warning light could otherwise enter the cabin.

Vehicle Fitment & Use Cases

The Lynx T6-2 fits vehicles and mounting positions where a full-size light bar is unnecessary or impractical. Buyers use it on patrol vehicles, personal vehicles, tow trucks, snow plows, utility trucks and construction pickups, while its compact dimensions also make it practical for specialty applications.

Verified ETD buyers have installed T6-2 units on rear decks, inside rear windshields and on the front of a fire brush truck. Another buyer mounted a pair to a Honda GL1800 while working as a safety rider blocking intersections during a charity event. These installations illustrate why the two-head housing is useful: it can create a substantial warning point in locations where a longer bar cannot fit.

Against its larger siblings, choose the T6-2 when you want more warning presence than a single head provides but do not need the width or traffic-advisor functionality of the larger T6 models.

Color Options

The Lynx T6-2 is available in 13 color configurations: 5 solid and 8 split.

A solid configuration uses the same color across both heads. A split configuration places one color in each head, so a red/blue model displays red on one side and blue on the other. Because the T6-2 has only two heads, that division is immediately visible and looks different from the interleaved color arrangement possible on larger multi-head bars.

Color selection should be based on the vehicle's application and applicable law rather than appearance alone. Restrictions on blue, red, amber, white and green warning lights vary by state and by authorized role.

The T6-4, T6-6 and T6-8 add eight alternating configurations for 21 total choices.

Compare Models

Model Comparison Table
ModelHeads / LEDsLengthKey Function / DifferentiatorBest Fit
Lynx T6-1 1 / 6 4.75 in Single-head compact warning point Motorcycles, ATVs and very tight mounting positions
Lynx T6-2 2 / 12 9.5 in Two-head compact warning stick; commonly installed in pairs Dash, deck, B-pillar, windshield and split rear-deck installations
Lynx T6-4 4 / 24 18 in Adds traffic-advisor capability Rear windows and installations needing directional control
Lynx T6-6 6 / 36 27 in Greater width and advisor resolution Wider rear-window applications
Lynx T6-8 8 / 48 35 5/8 in Maximum T6-series coverage and advisor resolution Full-width rear-window coverage

How to choose: start with the space available and the warning coverage required. The T6-1 and T6-2 are designed for compact mounting positions, while the wider T6-4, T6-6 and T6-8 provide enough physical width to add traffic-advisor functionality.

The parallel Lynx L series uses Linear optics instead of TIR. TIR concentrates the warning signal farther down the road, while Linear optics produce a broader spread at closer viewing angles.

When to Choose a Larger Model

Two heads are well suited to the positions the T6-2 is commonly purchased for, especially when two units are installed on opposite sides of a rear deck. A larger model becomes the better choice when one light needs to cover most or all of a rear window.

The LLynx T6-4 is the smallest model in the series with sufficient width for traffic-advisor functionality. The Lynx T6-6 and Lynx T6-8 extend that coverage farther across the vehicle.

If your installation needs full-width coverage or a directional traffic advisor from one housing, choose the appropriate larger model instead of trying to make the T6-2 perform a job its compact form factor was not designed for.

Daylight Visibility

Direct sunlight is one of the hardest conditions for a compact warning light because ambient brightness raises the intensity a signal must overcome before an approaching driver notices it as a warning.

The T6-2 addresses this through optical control rather than housing size. Its TIR optics focus the output from twelve Generation V LEDs into a controlled forward beam, putting more useful light toward approaching traffic instead of scattering it unnecessarily to the sides.

This concentrated signal is designed for high-visibility warning use in daylight as well as lower-light conditions.

Included Value & Ready-to-Use Advantages

The T6-2 ships with the hardware and wiring needed for a standard hardwired installation, eliminating the need to source a separate flasher or basic mounting brackets.

Because Extreme Tactical Dynamics manufactures the Lynx series, warranty support, individual LED modules and replacement parts are available through the same source as the light itself. Buyers who prefer a removable installation can add suction cups and the optional cigarette-lighter plug rather than converting the standard package permanently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Lynx T6-2 bright enough, or should I choose a larger model?

The T6-2 is designed for compact dash, deck, windshield and similar mounting positions. It is particularly effective when two units are installed as a synchronized pair. Choose a T6-4 or larger model when you need wider single-unit rear-window coverage or traffic-advisor functionality.

How many amps does the Lynx T6-2 draw?

The T6-2 draws 0.5 amps while flashing and 2.5 amps in steady-on mode at 12V.

Will it drain my battery?

Its normal flashing load is relatively small, but any warning light can discharge a battery if operated long enough with the engine off. Steady-on mode creates a higher continuous load, so stationary use should be planned accordingly and connected through a properly fused circuit.

Can I hardwire the T6-2?

Yes. Hardwiring is the standard configuration. The light uses 14 AWG cable with an inline switch and toggle wire for pattern control.

Can I synchronize two T6-2 lights?

Yes. A dedicated sync wire lets multiple compatible Lynx T series units run their patterns together. The T6-2 does not synchronize with the Linear-optic Lynx L series.

How large is the T6-2, and do the dimensions include the brackets?

The bare light measures 9.5 inches long, 2 inches deep and 1.5 inches high. Those dimensions do not include the L mounting brackets, which increase the installed height.

Is the Lynx T6-2 waterproof?

It carries an IP67 rating, providing protection against dust ingress and temporary water immersion. That rating supports properly installed exterior applications as well as interior mounting.

Does it remember my flash pattern?

Yes. Dual Memory stores two pattern selections independently, and the non-volatile memory retains those settings after a complete power disconnect.

Where can I mount the T6-2?

Common positions include the dash, windshield, rear deck, B-pillar, cage, push bumper and headache rack. L brackets are included for permanent mounting, while optional suction cups support removable glass installation.

Customer review

I ordered 2 of these light bars. They appear to be well made and very bright. I installed them on my Honda GL1800 for an upcoming toy run where I am one of the safety riders that block intersections and I need to draw attention to my bike....and that they do. I got off to a rocky start with this company but my order was processed just before a hurricane hit Florida. Also USPS was not updating their shipping reports promptly and I didn't receive any shipping updates until the day before my order was delivered to me. FedEX and UPS don't have anything to worry about. These people are great to work with and when they got phone and email service back called me because of my emails to make sure that everything was good. I have since recommended that people purchase lights from them.

We ordered the waterproof version of this light. We have had 2 of them for over a year now and they are mounted to the front of our fire brush truck. They have taken a beating out in the field but they still work very well.
