Light Output & Visibility
Eight heads give the T6-8 a longer row of warning lights than the smaller T6 models. Its housing extends 8 5/8 inches beyond the six-head T6-6, adding two heads without changing the focused 40-degree TIR beam. TIR means total internal reflection: the lenses direct light toward the traffic you aim the bar at. A longer bar does not create a wider beam angle.
Check that all eight heads are visible from outside the vehicle. On a broad rear window, the outer heads can still sit behind trim or pillars, while headrests and equipment may block the center. Tint and glass angle affect visible output. Check the proposed position in daylight and darkness, and use the optional flashback guard to help limit reflections into the cabin.
An anodized aluminum housing and scratch- and shatter-resistant polycarbonate lenses protect the assembly. Individual LED modules are replaceable, with spare parts available from ETD, so a damaged module can be serviced without replacing the entire bar.
Color Options
Choose from 21 fixed-color arrangements: five solid, eight split and eight alternating. On this eight-head model, a split arrangement groups four heads of one color beside four of the other. An alternating arrangement places the two colors in turn across the full bar. Each head keeps its assigned color.
| Arrangement | Available colors | Eight-head layout |
|---|---|---|
| Solid (5) | White, Red, Blue, Amber, Green | A/A/A/A/A/A/A/A |
| Split (8) | Red/White, Blue/White, Red/Blue, Amber/White, Green/Amber, Red/Amber, Blue/Amber, Green/White | A/A/A/A/B/B/B/B |
| Alternating (8) | The same eight color pairs listed above | A/B/A/B/A/B/A/B |
For example, a red/blue split groups four red heads beside four blue heads. The alternating version places a blue head after each red head. These are fixed color positions, independent of the flash pattern you select; the LEDs do not switch colors. Confirm orientation with ETD before ordering if a particular color must face a specific side. Choose colors authorized for your vehicle and role.
Recommended Uses & Limitations
The T6-8 suits first responders, fleet managers and POV owners who have space for a long warning bar. Rear-window and rear-deck installations can work in patrol, fire and rescue, tow, utility and construction vehicles. A suitable push bumper or headache rack offers an exterior option when you select circuit-board waterproofing. Fit depends on the actual mounting area, not the vehicle category.
Use the eight-head model when you want the longest housing in this lineup and can keep every head unobstructed. Left, right and center-out are also available as selectable directional patterns, using pattern selection rather than separate arrow controls. Position additional warning lights for approaches the bar does not face.

Optional Accessories Sold Separately
The optional cigarette-lighter control plug includes the Dual Memory switch, pattern-change button and a fuse. An inline switch, suction cups, flashback guard, headliner brackets for visor mounting and an additional 10 feet of wire are available separately. The extra wire extends the supplied cable; it does not replace it. Suction cups and the flashback guard can be used together.
Circuit-board waterproofing is an optional upgrade for exterior mounting. The light heads and housing already have IP67 protection; the upgrade adds IP67 protection to the circuit board. Waterproofing does not restrict your color or mounting choice. For hardwiring, purchase the required 10 A fuse and suitable fuse holder separately.
Fitment, Install, Wiring, Mounting Locations & Options
Rear Deck and Window Mounting
Allow space for a 35 5/8 × 2 × 1.5-inch bare housing, plus brackets and the cable route. The T6-8 weighs 4 lb. Use the included L brackets for a suitable rear-deck installation, or select optional suction cups for mounting behind glass. Confirm that the mounting surface can securely support the bar and that all eight heads face through a clear area.
Measure at the proposed mounting height, where window trim and pillars may reduce the usable width. A window wider than 35 5/8 inches at its widest point does not guarantee the bar will fit where you want it. Check rearward visibility and equipment clearance as well. The optional flashback guard can be used with suction cups to reduce cabin reflections.
Exterior and Other Mounting Options
For a push bumper or another suitable exterior position, use the supplied L brackets and select the circuit-board waterproofing upgrade. A headache rack is another possible location when the light can be secured and aimed properly. Protect electrical connections and use vehicle attachment hardware appropriate for the mounting surface. The four included screws attach the brackets to the light.
Optional headliner brackets support visor or headliner mounting where there is room for the full 35 5/8-inch housing and its hardware. Dash or cage mounting also depends on available space and secure attachment. Keep the bar and its wiring clear of airbags, controls and the driver's sightline.
Power and Controls
Hardwire the T6-8 to a fused 12V DC supply, or choose the optional cigarette-lighter plug for plug-in operation. Use a 10 A fuse for one T6-8. The optional plug includes a fuse; hardwired installations require separately purchased fuse protection. The inline switch is also optional.
The optional control plug lets you power either saved memory setting and change patterns with its pattern-change button. Both saved selections remain after unplugging. To coordinate multiple lights, use the dedicated sync connection with current Lynx T6 or L6 models; older T4 units are not compatible.

Compare Models
The T6-8 is the eight-head, 35 5/8-inch option in this TIR lineup. Compare the housing length with the space you measured before selecting a model.
| Model | Heads / LEDs | Length | Key function / difference | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lynx T6-1 | 1 / 6 | 4.75 in | Single-head compact warning light | Very tight mounting positions |
| Lynx T6-2 | 2 / 12 | 9.5 in | Compact two-head warning light | Dash, deck and paired installations |
| Lynx T6-4 | 4 / 24 | 18 in | Four-head warning; left/right patterns | Rear decks and push bumpers with room for an 18-inch bar |
| Lynx T6-6 | 6 / 36 | 27 in | Wider housing; left/right/center-out patterns | Wider rear-window applications |
| Lynx T6-8 | 8 / 48 | 35 5/8 in | Longest housing in this lineup; left/right/center-out patterns | Broad rear-window coverage where the bar fits |
Compared with the T6-6, the T6-8 adds two heads, 12 LEDs and 8 5/8 inches of housing length. Both offer left, right and center-out patterns, so choose between them based on the available space and number of heads you want. The 27-inch T6-6 or 18-inch T6-4 may fit better where trim, equipment or the mounting surface limits length.
For the same eight-head size with a wider optical spread, choose the L6-8. It matches the T6-8 in every specification except its 120-degree Linear lenses, which replace the T6-8's focused 40-degree TIR lenses. The other matching pairs are T6-1/L6-1, T6-2/L6-2, T6-4/L6-4 and T6-6/L6-6.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do I gain by choosing the T6-8 over the T6-6?
The T6-8 has eight heads and 48 LEDs in a 35 5/8-inch housing. The T6-6 has six heads and 36 LEDs in a 27-inch housing. You gain two heads and 8 5/8 inches of length; both models offer left, right and center-out patterns. Measure the mounting area before choosing the longer bar.
Is the standard T6-8 waterproof?
The light heads and housing have IP67 protection as standard. The circuit board needs the optional waterproofing upgrade for exterior use. Select that upgrade when ordering for a push bumper, headache rack or another exterior location.
Can I select left, right and center-out separately?
Yes. Left, right and center-out are selectable patterns on the T6-8. They are chosen through pattern selection, not through separate arrow controls.
What is the difference between split and alternating colors?
Split colors group four heads of each color as A/A/A/A/B/B/B/B. Alternating colors use A/B/A/B/A/B/A/B. For red/blue, that means four red heads beside four blue heads, or red and blue repeated in turn. The head colors stay fixed when you change flash patterns.
Can the optional plug operate both memory settings?
Yes. The optional cigarette-lighter plug has a Dual Memory switch that lets you power either saved setting, plus a pattern-change button. It also includes a fuse.
Can the T6-8 synchronize with Linear lights?
Yes. The T6-8 can synchronize with current Lynx T6 and L6 lights through its sync wire. It does not synchronize with older T4-series units.
How much power does it draw, and will it drain my battery?
The T6-8 draws 1.25 A while flashing and 6 A on steady-on at 12V. Any light can discharge a battery if left running with the engine off. Runtime depends on battery capacity, battery condition and other equipment drawing power.
Does it need an external flasher?
No. The flasher is built into the light. Hardwiring requires a fused power connection and suitable controls; the optional inline switch and cigarette-lighter control plug are sold separately.
Are the brackets included in the dimensions?
No. The 35 5/8 × 2 × 1.5-inch measurements describe the bare housing. Allow additional room for brackets, accessories and cable routing. The light weighs 4 lb.
Can I replace a damaged LED module?
Yes. The LED modules are replaceable, and spare parts are available from ETD. Contact us with your model and the part you need.
